WHAT WE DO

FrauenLoopers are committed to changing the face of tech-driven companies in the current decade. Our expertise is in training under-represented women who do not have prior tech exposure or tech industry connections:

  • career-changers

  • immigrants

  • parents (or any combination of these)

Since 2016, FrauenLoop has developed a custom mix of evening classes and weekend workshops to fill the gaps that most intensive programs do not. Using Python, JavaScript, React, Git, SQL, HTML and CSS, we offer applied, hands-on learning and professional coaching. From industry-focused classes to small-group workshop exercises, we know the tech industry and what it takes to get into it, coming from a different career, from a professional break, or from academia.

We know that women who change country, status, or careers demonstrate creativity and resilience. These characteristics can drive rich contributions to the tech industry. In an age where digitalization affects nearly every aspect of life, our program builds women's competence, community, and connections in tech. Applications from women-identified persons are welcome for our three formal cohorts per year (space is allocated on an as-available basis following the January start).

HOW TO HELP

For our weeknight class, we welcome women who’d like to mentor in the areas of web development, software quality assurance, machine learning, data analytics, devOps/cloudOps and cybersecurity. We maintain a majority of women tech mentors so we rarely need male mentors to join for these sessions.

Our weekend professional sessions are different: for these, men and women with tech and non-tech backgrounds are welcome to volunteer. Typically, FrauenLoop weekend professional workshops take place in established tech companies in Berlin, and online since March of 2020. Organized by the FrauenLoop Team, volunteer participation in these workshops require you to have at least two of the following:

  • General familiarity with software development team roles and responsibilities

  • Specialist familiarity with hiring and screening processes in tech teams

  • Deep understanding of tools and techniques to manage code in production

Empathy for and willingness to encourage women entering the tech industry is a non-negotiable requirement of all volunteers.
